Yayyyy It's Summer
Ever since I was a kid, summer has always been my favorite time of year. I know what you're thinking, of course you love summer when you're a kid because you don't have to go to school, but it was more than that for me. I've always felt like summer is a time when absolutely anything is possible. You can go anywhere and do anything. The sky's the limit.
Maybe it's not really like that, but it still seems that way somehow. In the winter you have short days and bad weather and all manner of annoying things to deal with. You have to wear layers and layers of clothes so if you go anywhere you have to pack a ton of stuff and carry huge bags. Summer is the time of year when you can be out on a drive stay gone for three days. In winter you concentrate on the destination, in summer you just drive.
In fact, and it dares to be mentioned, summer is actually a lot like Las Vegas. See in Vegas the idea that anything is possible becomes sort of an accepted fact. You can go from broke to rich with the pull of a slot machine. In the summer life has the same type of feeling. In fact, come to think of it, I really wish I was going to Las Vegas right now.
If you hate your job or your home or your car, it's all so much easier to change things in the summer. Who wants to go car shopping when it's pouring rain. Who wants to pack boxes and move when it's cold and windy. I was forced to move in January once, and let me tell you it was depressing as hell. My old place (which I hated by the way) seemed warm and comforting. My new place (which I ended up adoring) seemed like a pit. There just wasn't any joy in it.
Summer seems more hopeful and the sun's shining. When you do something in summer it just seems like it has a better chance of working out. To be honest I could make a change or two in my life. And hey, what better time than now. When fall comes I'll let you know how it turned out.
