You Learn Something New Every Day
Or At Least Once A Year
I have learned a lot of interesting things since I started Kickmeimdown almost a year ago. I know it's a little soon to do that whole looking back retrospective thing, so I won't. Besides, all that measuring goals stuff just ends up depressing me.
So you're probably wondering why I even brought it up. The reason is very simple. Tuvalu. What's Tuvalu you ask, so did I. See my website is teaching me all about geography. So now I know that Tuvalu is the fourth smallest country in the world as far as actual land goes. If you're curious, the three smallest are 1)Vatican City 2)Monaco and 3)Nauru (another country I don't remember hearing about, but you can find out about it here.)
Due to a random fluke when I switched high schools my junior year, I somehow managed to get out of the required geography class. It's kind of ironic since I'm a big fan of places and stuff and have a rather impressive map collection.
Anyway, each week when I check out my web site stats, one of my favorite things to do is see all the countries people have looked at my website from. I think this is the most amazing thing about the internet. The idea that something I wrote could be looked at (however fleetingly) by people from Singapore and Qatar and Japan and New Zealand and of course Tuvalu.
I've also had hits from the US Government (!) The US Military ( :> they are the coolest) and some educational institutions (Hopefully not as an example of what NOT to do when building a web site). I've had hits from Belize, which is cool although it's really cold here right now so I kinda wish I was in Belize right now looking at my site. Okay I just wish I was in Belize. I hear they have great diving there, and I'm sooooo tired of being cold.
The stats that kinda bug me though are the unknown ones. I mean where are they from, I want to know. I'm the kind of person who skips ahead to find out who did it when reading a mystery book (just a side note; It's almost never the butler). So that said and at the risk of being one of those annoyingly desperate people who beg for email, if you're here and you're from a country I haven't mentioned yet, send me an email and let me know where you're from and how you found me.
