August What to Watch

August 29 - Go back to a simpler time today with the Buffy the Vampire Slayer 'Back to School' marathon. These six episodes  focus on the high school years. Watch one episode or the whole marathon. I mean it is the day before a three day weekend, it's not like those HR people are gonna be calling you today.

FX Starts at 1pm 6 episodes

August 28 - Before I went to Turkey, every time I mentioned my trip someone asked me if I had ever seen the movie Midnight Express. I hadn't, but now's my chance, and yours.

AMC 12:40 Midnight Express (1978) Brad Davis

August 27 - Only in America could a boy named Marion grow up to be a legendary tough guy. See the Duke today in The Fighting Kentuckian, being the hero he's known as. Plus as an added benefit, you can learn about the war of 1812. I mean isn't that one of those wars no one really knows anything about. That and the French and  Indian war whose name confuses me because the French and the Indians were actually fighting on the same side. See how much there is to learn about history.  Start with a little lesson from John Wayne himself.

AMC today at 3:40pm. The Fighting Kentuckian (1949) John Wayne, Vera Ralston

August 26    - If you're feeling bad about mistakes you've made that you feel may have led you to this point and/or beating yourself up for being unemployed, take a moment out of your day to watch an hour of Great Blunders in History on the History Channel.  If nothing else, your mistakes will seem tiny by comparison.

History Channel new one every hour on the hour from 8am to 5 pm.

August 25 - Today's TV Recommendation is 'The Hustler' Perhaps the best pool movie ever. This story of pool shark Eddie Felson has Paul Newman in his pre-salad (dressing) days.

It's on AMC today at 12:55pm so you can sleep in.
